Monterey Canyon, or Monterey Submarine Canyon, is a submarine canyon in Monterey Bay, California. It is the subject of ongoing study by the scientists at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute,the Moss Landing Marine Laboratories, and other oceanographic institutions.
Woomera Rocket Range, South Australia. One of the world's busiest launch sites for testing rockets and missiles during the 1950's and 1960's. Also infamous as being a detention center for locking up asylum seekers in recent times.
The Cape May Canal was built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during the second world war as a protected route to avoid German submarines operating off Cape May Point and to become part of the Intracoastal Waterway System (ICW). The canal extends about three miles from Cape May Harbor to the Delaware Bay.
The cape's lighthouse
Construction of the lighthouse was completed in 1772, and the structure rises 144 meters in height above the cape.
