Maubeuge 1914 Forts belt

Maubeuge 1914 Forts belt

Maubeuge is straight in the North invasion way-in but at the very beginning of WWI, the forts belt was too weak to resist german heavy artillery storm, so did the town felt. Some of these forts were partially modernized before WWII but, again, this was done too little. Facing the panzers rush the town felt after an heroic fight for the second time in 25 years.
