Although educated as a physician, William Seward Webb built two hundred miles of railroad and opened up the Adirondack wilderness where others had failed. Labour camp at Brandenburg-Wilhelmshof

Nearly 2000 people were held here during World War II. The camp held civilians forcably abducted in the occupied countries to provide labor in the German war industry, repair bombed railroads and bridges or work on farms.
By 1944 19.9% of all workers were foreigners, either civilians or prisoners of war.

Close to the Ford motor company lies the historical museum "Greenfield Village". Founded by Henry Ford it shows historical houses and workshops as well as vintage cars and railroads. The house of the Wright Brothers has been rebuilt in Greenfiel Village too.

Central New England Railway

The Central New England Railway (CNE) was a railroad across northern Connecticut and west across the Hudson River in New York.
It eventually became part of the Poughkeepsie Bridge Route (an alliance between railroads for a passenger route from Washington to Boston) and later a line of the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad.
