Also during the first couple of seasons of 'Nash Bridges' on TV, this was thier Headquarters until they moved into the SIU Barge. The Barge was docked at Pier 30 near the Bay Bridge when they were filming.

In the Medieval period, all over Europe, bridges constructed with wood or stones got houses built on them. The simply reason was, that, when a house doesn┤t "touch the land", there is no tax to pay.
