SAO PAULO, Brazil (AP) -- A plane carrying at least 150 people crashed into a gas station and burst into flames after landing at Sao Paulo's airport Tuesday, Brazil's airport authority said.
An Aeroflot Il-14 from the the Soviet Union that crashed in Molodyozhnaya, Antarctica on January 2, 1979. The engine experienced engine failure shortly after takeoff, killing four of the seven people on board.
The crash site is well-preserved because of the cold, and the inability to remove the debris.
During the 1972 Christmas air raids, Vietnamese soldiers in Hanoi shot down a B-52 bomber. The plane crashed in Hun Tiep Lake, where it has remained ever since. About the size of a backyard swimming pool, Hun Tiep is not much of a lake. Plastic bags, candy wrappers and other garbage drift about its murky green water.
