|HIFAR (High Flux Australian Reactor) was Australia's first nuclear reactor. It was built at the Australian Atomic Energy Commission (later ANSTO) Research Establishment at Lucas Heights.|
Based on the DIDO reactor at Harwell in the UK, it is cooled and moderated by heavy water, and the fuel is enriched uranium metal. There is also a graphite neutron reflector surrounding the core. It is u...
|Oklo was natural nuclear reactor about 1.8 billion years ago in Gabon, West Africa.|
Thirteen nuclear reactors were discovered along a 200-metre uranium mine bed.
Through a quirk of nature, concentration of U-235 were high enough to permit nuclear fissions to occur.
Scientists think these natural reactors could have functioned intermittently for a million years. The average...

|This huge bunker was construced in early 1943 to serve as covered launch base for V-1's. The complex was multiple times bombed by the Allies with 'Tallboy' bombs, but without any succes. The bunker itself proved to be rather useless and never fired one single V-1. The Allied Air Force lost over 150 aircraft and 700 men during the air operations against the facility.|

In the early 1970s, four Super Guppies were used by Airbus Industrie to transport aeroplane parts from decentralised production facilities to the final assembly plant in Toulouse. The running joke was "Every Airbus is delivered on the wings of a Boeing!" They have since been replaced by the Airbus Beluga.||01/07/2006||690|
