| destroyed by a missile in 1983, during the Second Sudanese Civil War, this gigantic bucket wheel excavator, actually disused, digged the Jonglei Canal to divert water through the vast Sudd wetlands of South Sudan so as to deliver more water downstream to Sudan and Egypt for use in agriculture.|

|Written off at Rumbek’s unpaved airstrip in South Sudan in March 2003, apparently after engine failure. No fatalities. First flew July 1966 for RAF (XS602). Went to RNZAF (New Zealand air force) November 1976 (NZ7622), which later modified it for VIP configuration. Sold to 748 Air Services (Kenya) October 1998, and used in ferrying relief supplies into South Sudan. ||08/08/2007||976|
