Cockpit of Avro Vulcan K.2 XL445 at Walpole

Cockpit of Avro Vulcan K.2 XL445 at Walpole

XL445 is now the only Vulcan nose at Walpole. Mounted on a (somewhat makeshift) frame so that the cockpit access hatch can be opened and you can go inside, XL445 (service nickname - Fireball XL445 - of course!) is the only K.2 in existence (unless you count XH558 which was a K.2 before being converted back to near-B.2 status. The rear cockpit is in pretty good condition with only a few missing ...

Handley Page Victor K.2 XH673 at RAF Marham

Handley Page Victor K.2 XH673 at RAF Marham

RAF Marham was the last home of the Victor force, and when they sadly left service in 1993 one was earmarked for preservation at the station. XH673 now graces the area outside the SHQ, so you need to be inside the station to get a picture (or high above it!). She was repainted in 1999 and has the cockpit glass covered with black panels to protect the cockpit interior - the perspex was apparentl...

The Cockpit Stone Circle

The Cockpit Stone Circle

The Cockpit is the largest and most impressive of the Moor Divock circles. The stone circles and burial mounds date back to the bronze age. It consists of a low bank of stones, 3 metres wide, and with an internal diameter of about 26m, which surrounds a featureless short turfed interior. Set into the bank are many large stones, the tallest of which form the inner face of the circle, some reachi...

Wrong Way Plane

Wrong Way Plane

This plane doesn't look like it's taking off (no shadow), nor does it look like it's taxiing (no place to taxi to..its a deadend). But the plane is facing NW, in the opposite direction the arrows are facing (SE). What IS this plane doing?

Plane Landing at Keahole

Plane Landing at Keahole

A plane landing at Keahole airport, Hawaii. I'm pretty sure this plane is landing because it has already developed the blue "ghost" effect, which comes when an object is traveling very fast. If the plane were taking off, the blue effect wouldn't be there yet, because the plane couldn't accelerate in such a short distance from the end of the runway.
