The Anderton Boat Lift near the village of Anderton, Cheshire, in north-west England provides a 50 feet (15.2 m) vertical link between two navigable waterways: the River Weaver and the Trent and Mersey Canal.
Built in 1875, the boat lift was in use for over 100 years until it was closed due to corrosion in 1983. Restoration started in 2001 and the boat lift was re-opened in 2002....

This was the scene of the first British landing on D-Day, when men of the 6Th Airborne Division used gliders (which can be clearly seen in the image) to land behind enemy lines and secure the bridge over the Caen Canal. This was later re-named 'Pegasus' bridge, in honour of the badge worn by the 6th Airborne.
The Strépy-Thieu boat lift (French: L'ascenseur funiculaire de Strépy-Thieu) lies on a branch of the Canal du Centre in the municipality of Le Rœulx, Hainaut, Belgium. With a height difference of 73.15 metres (240.0 ft) between the upstream and downstream reaches, it is the tallest boat lift in the world, and will remain so until the Three Gorges dam boat lift in China is finished.
The Bridge crossing the Bow River in Calgary, Alberta. It was originally called the MacArthur Bridge, but it was destroyed in a flood in 1915. In 2000, the bridge was restored and renovated. The bridge features four lions atop the sides of the bridge.
Novy most (The New Bridge) is well know as Most SNP (Bridge of SNP), which was former name of the bridge. Special for this bridge is it's restaurant that looks like an UFO. It's name is Bystrica but unfotunately nowadays you can't have lunch there because it's closed.
