GRES-2 Coal Power Plant

GRES-2 Coal Power Plant

This is a very large coal burning power plant in eastern Kazakhstan, with what is reported to be the tallest chimney in the world (420m). There should be another station very similar nearby, called GRES-1, although I can't locate it myself. This power station is just north of the worlds largest open-cast coal mine, the Bogatyr mine.

Burning Man - in Session

The Burning Man festival looks to be taking place at the moment this satellite image was snapped. This overlay was inserted by GE in the last update, and is pretty sloppily placed over the old Burning Man location.
