It is a part of the 11e Brigade Parachutiste and the spearhead of the French Rapid reaction force. As such, it fills what could typically be described as a special forces role for the French Foreign Legion.

Censored Shipyard

While looking for naval boats in Netherlands, I came across this shipyard. Sadly, it's censored.

It's kinda cool though if you look at the contrast of censoring of that boat just entering the harbour and the surrounding water.

French Frigate Floreal F730 at Darwin Harbour

The Floréal is a small monitoring frigate ("frégate de surveillance") of the French Marine Nationale. She is the lead ship of her class, and the first French vessel named after the 8th month of the Republican Calendar.

In 1993, she took part in United Nations Operation in Somalia II to protect Blue Helmets. In 1995, she took part in the capture of Bob Denard in the Comoros.

This French Military Cemetery is a reminder that for the opening of the war the northern flank of the Ypres Salient was held by the French Army (with the Belgian Army on their left).

There are 3547 soldiers buried here plus a mass grave for 609 unknown.
