Capitolio Nacional was commissioned by Guzmán Blanco in the 1870s. It is most famous for its Salón Elíptico, an oval hall with a mural-covered dome and walls lined with portraits of the country's great and good.
The Patrouille Acrobatique de France ("French Acrobatic Patrol") commonly referred to as Patrouille de France and sometimes abbreviated as PAF, is the precision aerobatic demonstration team of the French Air Force. Originating in 1931, it is one of the world's oldest and best demostration team. Pilots currently fly the Dassault-Breguet/Dornier Alpha Jet.
Built on orders of the Ottoman Sultan Abdulaziz (1861-1876), it's a delightful, if ornate, imperial residence with a fountain in the main salon, the usual sumptuous chambers, Bohemian crystal chandeliers, Sèvres and Chinese vases, and pleasant gardens (closed Monday and Thursday; stay 1-2 hrs)
