Surinam Airways Flight PY764 was an international scheduled passenger flight from Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands to Paramaribo-Zanderij International Airport in Suriname on a Surinam Airways DC-8. On June 7, 1989, the flight crashed during approach to Paramaribo-Zanderij, killing 176 of the 187 on-board, making it the worst ever aviation disaster in Suriname's history.
It was very sad to hear about the crash of this aircraft in the news. As they talked about the creek which apparently helped to save the lives of the survivors, I wanted to find the location. A BBC article helped to confirm the location.
