These are the remains of the very first velodrome (bicicle race track) built in Portugal. It has been built circa 1894, by the Royal Velo Club of Oporto, in a location donated by the portuguese monarch, also a club associate. The founder of the club, António Nicolau de Almeida, also founded the Foot-Ball Club of Oporto (FCP - do you remember Mourinho?)
