Abandoned highway strip with aircraft stands

On the road between the Bulgarian villages Bjala Slatina and Borovan the Bulgarian Air Force had a aircraft highway strip during the cold war used by the Warsaw Pact countries until 1989. Since 1990 it's abandoned and the aircraft stands in both sides are overgrown with grass and plants. Up to 10 aircraft could be parked on each stand.

The runway was 2km (1.42 miles) and was wide...

Fort Charles, Saint Kitts

Fort Charles, Saint Kitts

Fort Charles is an old British fort on the island of St. Kitts. It's capture by the French was the reason for the construction of the more famous Brimstone Hill Fortress, which overlooks it.

The fort today is not in good shape. It was abandoned by the British in 1854, and used from 1890 to 1996 as a Leper colony. Since then, it has been completely abandoned and is overgrown with...

Overgrown ancient Opel circuit 1919-1946

Here you can clearly see the contours of the overgrown Opel circuit. It was used from 1919 to 1946 for public cycle- and car racing but also as a proving ground for new developments like the Raketenwagen RAK 1 by the Adam Opel AG.
It was considered as Europe's fastest circuit because a average speed up to 140km/h was possible

Censored Shipyard

Censored Shipyard

While looking for naval boats in Netherlands, I came across this shipyard. Sadly, it's censored.

It's kinda cool though if you look at the contrast of censoring of that boat just entering the harbour and the surrounding water.

Abandoned Hotel Monte Palace on Sao Miguel Island, Azores

Abandoned Hotel Monte Palace on Sao Miguel Island, Azores

Along a quiet mountain road in The Azores is an abandoned hotel called Monte Palace. It was built just over 2 decades ago as a five star luxury hotel. Unfortunately no one visited it due to its extreme price and it was just abandoned very soon after.

20 years later it is over grown and seemingly deserted.
