|RAF Macmerry is a former Royal Air Force station located 4.5 miles (7.2 km) west of Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland and 11.4 miles (18.3 km) east of Edinburgh, Inverness-shire.|
It has also been called RNAS Macmerry (when used by the Royal Navy) and un-officially RAF Tranent and RAF Penston during its life.
|Actually known as hedehogs, these spiked barriers are effecitve at keeping mechanized units out. They are very prominent at the beggining of the movie "Saving Private Ryan." In honour of the liberation of Balgehoeke, this Sherman tank was placed at the bridge.
Near the tank is a list with the names of the members of the regiment who were killed during the liberation of Balgerhoeke.
They were buried at the Canadian War Cemetery in Adegem, not far from Balger...
