RAF Macmerry in 1945

RAF Macmerry is a former Royal Air Force station located 4.5 miles (7.2 km) west of Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland and 11.4 miles (18.3 km) east of Edinburgh, Inverness-shire.

It has also been called RNAS Macmerry (when used by the Royal Navy) and un-officially RAF Tranent and RAF Penston during its life.

Anti-Tank Spikes

Actually known as hedehogs, these spiked barriers are effecitve at keeping mechanized units out. They are very prominent at the beggining of the movie "Saving Private Ryan." These hedgehogs in particular are a WWII memorial showing the furthest point German troops penetrated Russia.

It's located at the east side of Arromanches overlooking the Mulberry harbour and Gold beach.

East of Julianadorp, near the hamlet of Blauwe Keet, there are four bunkers and a small remainder of the anti-tank ditch. The bunkers are: a 134 (Munitionsunterstand I), a 621 (Gruppenunterstand), a 680 (Schartenstand für 7.5 cm PAK 40 ohne Nebenräume) and a 502 (Doppelgruppenunterstand).

Sherman Tank Balgerhoeke

Sherman Tank Balgerhoeke

Balgerhoeke was liberated on September 15, 1944 by the Canadian South Alberta Regiment.
In honour of the liberation of Balgehoeke, this Sherman tank was placed at the bridge.
Near the tank is a list with the names of the members of the regiment who were killed during the liberation of Balgerhoeke.
They were buried at the Canadian War Cemetery in Adegem, not far from Balger...
