The so-called Golden Triangle marks the border-triangle between Thailand, Laos and Myanmar (Burma) on the Mekhong River. The name is also used to described the region, which was once (in)famous for being the world´s main production area for poppies whose substances are subsequently refined into opium and heroin. It is now surpassed by Afghanistan which produces 90% of the world´s opium.

This is Luke Air Force Base Auxilary Landing Field.
Luke was the largest fighter training base is the country for half a century. 50 years ago before this area was populated, Luke used these fields to practice emergency landings and such. The fields are simply gravel, in a triangle shape to alow for unpowered landings depending on which way the wind is blowing.
