STRATEGIC OPERATIONS (Fifteenth Air Force): In Austria, 344 B-17s and B-24s bomb 5 ordnance depots and SE industrial area in Vienna and 2 oil refineries in the area. 88 B-24s escorted by P-38s and P-51s bomb the port of Trieste, Italy. and 45 B-24s, with P-51s escorting, fly a supply mission to Lyon, France.

After the 1943 occupation, the Germans transformed the old rice-husking factory in a concentration camp: here many Jews, Slovenian partisans, Croatians, and Italian anti-Fascists were executed.
