These are the RED ARROWS.

The Red Arrows, officially known as the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, is the aerobatics display team of the Royal Air Force, based at RAF Scampton, United Kingdom. They were formed in late 1964 as an all-RAF team, replacing a number of unofficial teams that had been sponsored by various RAF commands.

I used to live just off the approach to Blackpool Airport; used to see the Red Arrows come in once or twice a season. They always used to do an impromptu display over the open land to the east, visible to any-one in Blackpool and St. Annes. I've also seen them go into Warton, the BAe factory just down the coast. It's not often in the UK you see a full squadron do an approach, break and turn to land at 30 second intervals. Magic!!
