Not sure what the airbase is but there are some interesting planes parked around the place (B1's , Osprey's, and an SR71) but there are two that i can not identify. Any ideas ?

Hi jiguk.
Welcome to GEH. :)
I had to look at Google Map to see the planes you ask for because GE is updated with a new image.
You planes you ask about are both RQ-4 Global Hawk
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RQ-4_Global_Hawk
The airbase is Edwards AFB.
Some tips for you. If you go into a category you can download a Network link to that category. Then you pan over the area a GEH icon shows up with link to that image.
You can also mark Google Earth Community and an "i" shows up with informations.
Have fun. :)

Has that part to the east been blanked out, covered with sand, or is it really like that?

Yes it's really like that. That is a dry lake bed and is used for runways, etc. I lived at Edwards in the 1970s for a few years when I was in elementary school. It was a very cool place to live. Sonic booms all the time, SR71's flying around all the time, got to see the first Space Shuttle tests, etc. :)
Hard to believe it's been more than 30 years since Space Shuttle was designed.

Fighter planes on ground at Ramat David Airbase.
Low resulution to see which planes they are. If you look around the runways you will see some more of them.
