All of the obvious photoshoppage of the washington DC area has been removed, the capital building is now fully visable, as is the roof of the whitehouse.

Well that didn't last long. Meaning the way they talked about security there that it would always be blocked. Excellent

Perhaps the censorship was related to the security-related construction that's been going on there (which you can still see to the east of the Capitol building). Maybe the Architect of the Capitol (www.aoc.gov) or the Capitol Police (www.uscapitolpolice.gov) just requested some blurring during construction to obscure stuff that's now hidden.
It's easier and more secure just to request blurring of everything under their control than to selectively blur sensitive areas. If I recall correctly, the extent of what was blocked was the Capitol and the House & Senate Office Buildings: http://www.aoc.gov/cc/cc_map.cfm.
