This is a discussion thread for the following file:<br><br><b><a href=http://www.gearthhacks.com/dlfile29651/USS-Intrepid-(CV-11)-Lookalike.htm>USS Intrepid (CV-11) Lookalike</a></b><br><br>Another large aircarft carrier in NYC. The USS Intrepid can be seen in Growler, New York, but here we see it again. Look closely at the back and you can just make out &quot;INTREPID&quot;.<br /><br /><img src=http://www.gearthhacks.com/showimage.php?image=112807/784940int.jpg>

The Intrepid had it's final trip from the Manhattan position to a new one in Bayonne, NJin november 2006. As a last honour the last crew and captain in duty was on board.

I think it's a little misleading to call it a 'final trip'. It's just in New Jersey for maintenance and repairs before it goes back to the museum location along Manhattan where it was before.

The moving of the Intrepid was an episode on "Mega Movers" on (I think) History Channel. They had quite the time as at the muesum site the warf was silted in, It took several tugs, timing with the tides, and a lot of grunt to meve the old gal.
