Strange rectangle floating over views

Ive got a strange rectangle of red and grey shapes floating over the top of my screen in GE - the cursor disappears behind the grey then appears over the red.
Any ideas how to get rid of it?

Can you post any screenshots by any chance? My first reaction is to say clear your cache, but you may have already done that.

Sounds like a graphics hardware/driver issue...

You have a lost network link to a file in GE. Try clearing your cache files first, if that doesn't work send us a "screen print" of you layers and places. Just want to see if something else is loaded.

It disappeared when I unticked 'Overview map' in 'View'.
