Importing CSV/Excel files into Google Earth....

I'm trying to find a way to import some large csv files (or excel files, I can use either) into Google Earth (.kml or .kmz). I'd like to change the color (and possibly size) of the icon depending on one of my columns of data, and have the points connected (route). My data encludes a good number of columns (lat, long, name, value I'd like the color to be based on, description columns) and I'd like to include them all in the pop up box for each point. I've checked out quite a few applications and programs, but can't finsd one that does quite what I need. The website below is the by far the best I've found so far but I'm really trying to find one that I could use while offline, or that has open source code so I can adjust it.
