Are level curves available in Google Earth?

is there any way of showing level curves on Google Earth's globe?

Are you asking to see the Latitude and longitude lines? If so look under view on the toolbar and select grid.

No, thats not what I'm looking for. But thanks for your reply.

I need the lines showing equal height above sea level - preferably in variable altitude distances. Lets say every 5m or every 10m depending on the scale of the globe or the height of the instant view.

I don't necessarily need them at the same time as 3D view, but it would be nice.

Anybody have an idea?

In Google Maps (http://maps.google.com/), you can choose "terrain" mode, which gives you essentially a topo map. However, I don't think you can access that information in Google Earth yet.

I found an article in Google Earth Blog from 2006. Here is a topographic map of the USA.
