Hi Folks!

On a recent flight from London Gatwick to Dublin, We flew over what Appears to be an RAF Base. I've tried to find where it might be, but can't seem to find it. We were about 12 minutes away from Gatwick when we flew over it. I took a photo of it if it's any use.

I'd really appreciate it if anyone could find out which Base it is.

But I can. :)

It's RAF Lyneham.

RAF Lyneham (IATA: LYE, ICAO: EGDL) is a Royal Air Force station in Wiltshire, England. It is the home of all the C-130 Hercules transport aircraft of the Royal Air Force. The station is also home to No.38 Expeditionary Air Wing.

Originally constructed in 1939, RAF Lyneham is scheduled for closure by 2012 with functions and aircraft relocating to RAF Brize Norton. The base will remain open until the last of the C-130K fleet is retired. At this point the 25 new generation C-130Js will move to Brize Norton where they will join the A400M, the C-17 Globemaster and the aerial refueling fleet.

That was quite easy. You wrote you flew from Gatwick to Dublin and have been off for around 12 minutes.

Then I found this site with RAF stations and looked on GE what counties you pass through this flight.

The Counties you'll pass are Hampshire and Wiltshire on this route. In those 2 Counties there are 5 Stations. And of cause it was the last one that was the right one.
