After watching a few old movies I thought of a project that would make for a great community project.

Monster Sightings Map

The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms
It Came From Beneath the Sea
Godzilla
Creature From The Black Lagoon
Them

The project involves creating a file that maps all movie monsters and creatures using the locations as described in the movies. Adding video or photo clips to the destinations and even an IMdb description of the movie.

From oldest to the newest.

I love speculative fiction and I would find this a very interesting addition.

If there is already a file available please link me to it.

Cloverfield: New York
Them: Arizona desert
Godzilla: harbors and islands of Japan
etc...

Should be fun

I'm totally interested, but I'm currently running on the weakest internet connection i've used in a long time... In fact, it's not even mine....
In fact, it only work after 8 pm...

I'll see what I can do (I can't use GE) using firefox and scrounging up more monsters. For starters:

Movie monsters only, right? Otherwise it's a gigantic long list...
It's actually going to be really hard to peg down where each of these monsters is from, seeing as many of them move around...alot.

In no real order:
Guardian of the Universe: Japan
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamera

Gyaos, enemies of Gamera: Japan
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gyaos

Losing connection again, I hope this gets through..

I was thinking all monsters in movies and including all monster reported sightings as well.

AvP
AvP2
Predator and Predator 2
Werewolves
Frankenstein
Dracula
Blade
Voyage to the bottom of the sea
Creepshow
night of the living dead
slither
night of the creeps
dark shadows

EVERYTHING

Make it a tour with little tidbits of info and pictures and everything.

Got another idea like this one after we make some headway.

How about a series of files dealing with individual monster movies and their related locations. If I knew how to do it I would make one as an example.

Like for King Kong(PJ version)
Start in the city showing production stills of the title
Then the harbor and a still of the ship or the captain
Then show the approximate location of skull island and stills of the island
Then more stills of the island interior and the creatures
Then New York again - the theater, stills of the theater, pics of a real theater, maybe a street view or two.
Then the empire state bldg and still of kong on it, then pics of the real bldg and some stills of the end
Include links along the way.

Do you mean posting a kmz? Make a folder in google earth, then drag the placemarks you want into there. Next, save the folder as something, save it somwhere you'll remember where it is, then upload the folder... There's more detailed instructions somewhere on this website but I'm too lazy to look right now. =)

You make it sound so simple.
Perhaps I will try

Where are you getting all your movie info/locations from?

I still can't use GE (bad connection) till atleast August 9th... but I can do the basic general location finding now. In terms of making the placemarks and folder I can do that then..

Blade:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/19/Blade_movie.jpg
Starts at the club
No idea where it goes from there, or even where the shots were filmed..

Blade II:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/6/6d/Blade_II_movie.jpg/473px-Blade_II_movie.jpg
Once again, I'm clueless as to where the scenes take place..

Blade: Trinity:

Same problem as before

Internet going down again..

From watching the movies
Filming locations are not included
This is completely movie driven locations
