On 115 bronze boards in the arc-shaped gallery you find the names of 35,000 submariners died in WW1, WW2. Also submariners died during its service in the German Navy are perpetuated here.

All war ships (not only the German) are requested to salute when passing this memorial.

On November 15th this year a new board will be installed - with the names of the Italian submariners of U-IT23 (ex "Guiliani") died in 1944 in the Strait of Malacca.
