I'm stumped. The attached GIF file looks fine when viewed in a normal viewer. But when I try to overlay it into Google Earth, the bottom half is black. Very odd. Anyone know why this might be happening?

Here is link to the file

Could you post the .kmz? Might be able to see what's wrong with it. :yep:

It has nothing to do with the KMZ. Just download that GIF file and overlay it randomly in Google Earth. The bottom 1/2 of it is completely black...at least it is on my machine. Very odd. I've tried it in 5 or 6 other image viewers and looks fine.

It does the same thing for me. All I can say is that most image types these days have a lot of options built into them which a viewer must accomodate. Apparently Google Earth doesn't deal with however this one is set up. That's how it appears to me anyway.

The easy fix is to just save it as a different format. I saved it as a PNG and it worked fine after that. PNG should also not lose any image quality. I'll attach the copy I made.

Ya, I'm just going to go with PNG instead. Thanks.
