I haven't seen it here on GEH - GREAT find! (Please submit it to the file library)

Now, there is no way that plane could have landed there, and the odds of a successful take-off are very, very slim. So someone with a sense of humor (and too much money) must have put it there.

Is it a real plane, or a facade for fooling people who spend too much time playing with GEarth? It sure got our attention.

Here's hoping that some GEH member who lives or works in the vicinity will find out and report back.

Please put the info in your file when you submit it.

Situated in the heart of the insurance district, 77 Water Street occupies the entire East side frontage of Water Street between governuer lane to the North of Old Slip to the South. The property runs all the way through the block to Front Street on the East, covering approximately 60% of an acre.77 Water Street is located at the foot of Wall Street.

The biplane on the roof sculpture was designed by some guy named Rudolph de Harak and executed by the sculptor William Tarr in 1969 (thanks Jack Ryan).
Apparently it's a full-size model of a WW1 Sopwith Camel, complete with runway. It was put there to amuse inhabitants of surrounding scyscrapers, notably the WTC.
...the biplane on the roof of 77 Water Street in Lower Manhattan, a playful touch installed by the developer, the William Kaufman Organization.

@ ivan: It's clear for me that you looking for more info about this placemark. I only want, that you submit this file and not anybody else.

You find it also not in the BBS Keyhole database. That is a really great find.

Great find. It reminds me of the Colditz POW story where they built a plane to escape from their captors. Maybe some officeworkers had the same idea here ;-)

Great find!
I just noticed that (of course) all buildings appear to be "leaning" in the same direction (due to the camera angle).
But the red-brown building below left (neighboring Hannover Square) of the "plane building" is strangely "leaning" in the opposite direction. Hmmm....probably on a different satellite photo...
