Only 53 ever made.....here's 15 in this shot. Elseware in this boneyard are 16 more. total of 31. More than half of the aircraft ever produced are on this site, awaiting demolition. (just watched a history channel special about boneyards) According to this website http://www.bobscherer.com/Pages/Starship.htm there are only 4 in active service. The host of this website was interviewed for the history channel special.

that's a link to one that appears to be in working order.

Aarg! I read this thread yesterday, remembered the shape of the Starship and was very surprised and happy to have spotted another one at Aspen. ONLY to find out upon posting my find in this thread that somebody else was fast. Congratulations!

It is just the aircrafts name, nothing "flys" in space.

Burt Rutan used one as a chase plane when they launched spaceship one. They said it was the only privately owned starship left - Beech tried to get it back, but the owner refuses to sell it.
Here it is at Oshkosh:

at John Wayne Airport.
Not seeing it near your link....but I DID find one somewhere else in that airport! (maybe an update and the plane moved)
The second post you made is perfect, though.
5 more makes 41 total located! out of an available 53 ever made, I think that this thread should qualify for some sort of record for percentages of things in existance being found!

Not really. Great find, because so many people looked at this piece of land.

Hi,
this is my first post. The aircraft in Alaska are two Long EZ, similar to the starship, but much smaller. They were designed by Burt Rutan, by the way.
I know this because I am a pilot, from Portugal, and me and a friend are planning on buying two of these in California and going around the world in them. I'm searching for cool stuff to see on this site, eheh. I have a couple of places in Russia already.
As soon as we have our website going, I'll post it, so that everyone can put requests, for weird stuff along our route, and then we'll put the photos here. That strange looking crater in Siberia certainly has something into it, why is there a road coming out of it?
Google Earth is a great help in finding lost aerodromes in Siberia, where there are virtually none.
Best regards
