This is a discussion thread for the following file:

the statue have disappeared by law

according to the "historic memorial law" voted by the Spanish congress of deputies in October 2007, this week, the authorities of Santander (north of Spain) have ordered to be taken off, the equestrian statue of general francisco Franco, from the square where it was since 1964. It was the last one still existing on the Spanish territory. On the satelite view, the statue is on the bottom, what we mainly see is its shadow
After the civil Spanish war (1936-39), francisco Franco became "de facto" the Spanish head of state till 1975 (year of his death).
About this man, just a little story: Adding the first-day date of the Spanish civil war to its last-day date, you obtain his exact date of death.
19.07.(19)36
+ 01.04. 39
------------
= 20.11.(19)75
casualty? mystery? Who knows...
