Recently it came to my attention (http://www.9wsyr.com/news/local/story/Rental-truck-hits-bridge-roof-torn-off/XZF7e7ZRAE2VyVljamJxmA.cspx) that there is a railroad overpass near where I live with a posted clearance of 10' 0" (http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=43.076882,-76.10414&spn=0,359.983327&z=16&layer=c&cbll=43.076821,-76.104247&panoid=hgmiIHvoCkwgq5QTDHM-rA&cbp=12,52.70270270270263,,0,1.8725868725868697). (That's 3.05 meters.) That's the lowest overpass clearance in the area I know of.
A little Googling turns up this site (http://www.aitaonline.com/Info/Low%20Clearances.html) with some much lower numbers than that. Unfortunately most of them can't be seen in Street View, but this (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=henning,+tn&ie=UTF8&ll=35.6724,-89.572689&spn=0.001098,0.002084&z=19&layer=c&cbll=35.672445,-89.572778&panoid=zfj3y8eF3k4l_JbEkdWhXg&cbp=12,290.0374054252786,,0,6.158301158301158) appears to be the one on Tenessee Route 87 posted at 8'0". Unlike with the overpass in Syracuse (http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=43.077054,-76.10384&spn=0,359.983327&z=16&layer=c&cbll=43.077114,-76.103742&panoid=v7RhZtBHrqfA-3FYaSBSoA&cbp=12,52.70270270270263,,0,1.8725868725868697), it looks like the Google car didn't try to go under this one!
There is said to be a 7'6" covered bridge near Ashland, PA, but I couldn't find it on Street View, and anyway that's not an overpass.
The Low Clearances page is incomplete, though, and covers only the US. So the question is -- on Street View, how low can you go?

Someone found the StreetView car hitting a branch here (http://www.streetviewfun.com/2008/google-camera-snags-a-tree/).
I found it looking at a car wash (http://www.gearthhacks.com/streetview/file.php?fileid=4245). Not sure if it planned to go in, but it sure wouldn't fit.
This a fantastic idea for a thread. I'll see what I can find. I've seen some pretty low overpasses, but didn't really think much of it... I'll go back and see what I can find.

Spider - you've got to be one of the biggest Street View geeks on the planet. And Munden might be a very close second.
It's an honor to know you!

Don't forget Sladys!!
Haha. Maybe I spend a little TOO much time on StreetView. But it gives me a great opportunity to travel when in real life I can't.

Okay, I couldn't find anything as low as my original post..yet...but here's what I did find recently:
A low stone arch overhead (http://maps.google.com/maps?source=earth&layer=c&cbll=43.900948,-103.429674&cbp=12,342.47807420057615,,0,-2.3646745245752494&ie=UTF8&t=h&panoid=gQ64tyzxxrLC4knzSR5EUg&ll=43.901031,-103.429724&spn=0,359.990977&z=17). It even has a road around the arch in case your vehicle doesn't fit. The StreetView car fits easily, but I'm sure alot of Trucks use that..
I can't quite tell because of the bad image quality, but that bus does not look like it fits well under this bridge (http://maps.google.com/maps?source=earth&layer=c&cbll=40.759884,-73.961798&cbp=12,338.0873642373912,,0,-2.4680378032989174&ie=UTF8&t=h&panoid=yw-hXkktoyVJ5Te2HL1mbA&ll=40.759814,-73.961849&spn=0,359.990977&z=17).
I swear this bus has like an inch of clearance (http://maps.google.com/maps?source=earth&layer=c&cbll=41.506315,-74.075451&cbp=12,197.71864223256534,,1,-1.3702258675900656&ie=UTF8&t=h&panoid=QG-ENm1A64cJDjQnDJnH0g&ll=41.506231,-74.075478&spn=0,359.990977&z=17) under that bridge. I doubt it's a trick of the eye too..
The way those arrows are pointing it looks like the StreetView car is about to smash through some branches (http://maps.google.com/maps?source=earth&layer=c&cbll=50.642305,3.069508&cbp=12,342.68312375492883,,0,-1.2576960801921027&ie=UTF8&t=h&panoid=OErlWZ7T_DAp9Bj55X7x2w&ll=50.642222,3.069541&spn=0,359.981954&z=16), but if you go forward you can tell that it smartly drove around.
That's all for now.

Found this video. I don't know if this bridge is in the USA but the roadsigns look like from USA.

And finally...

The car snagged a branch somewhere...have yet to find the actual image of the collision..

Seems like I found the spot where the camera hit the branch. Just as the car leaves Via di Villa Giulia and turns into Via Ulisse Aldrovandi it hits a branch.

I don't think so: when you move the branch is gone, but that's because it's a different car/day. The settings change when you move...

Google car goes under a 10 foot 0 in underpass (http://maps.google.com/maps?source=earth&layer=c&cbll=42.360813,-71.11764&cbp=12,20.722525375676582,,0,-10.981518472465346&ie=UTF8&ll=42.360898,-71.117656&spn=0,359.990816&t=h&z=17&panoid=NfOyYRStnclVvwSFEaNm-w). Actually drove under this today....the road has a bunch of these and plenty of trucks get stuck despite all the warnings.
Here's (http://maps.google.com/maps?source=earth&layer=c&cbll=42.364005,-71.118039&cbp=12,10.303738317757011,,0,-7.196261682242987&ie=UTF8&ll=42.364005,-71.118039&spn=0,359.990816&t=h&z=17&panoid=3cLNbW3Mu074JPwLWfRHnQ) the other one on the road. The clearance sign is more visible. Go to the other side of this underpass and look up...the car with camera is probably 8 and a half feet tall.

Props to StreetViewFun for finding another collision with leaves (http://www.streetviewfun.com/2009/google-hiding-in-the-bushes/)...
Newport Centre Mall West Parking Lot 3rd Floor Deck - Jersey City, NJ
Clearance - 6'8". Top that!
Located along Lius Marin Blvd and Newport Parkway Jersey City.
Not an overpass, but a little plank attached to some chains.
