At the time of writing the Red route (I realise this post concerns the black route, but just in case you plan to look at the Red Route also) has been closed due to trail upgrade work to make 2km of the trail more durable for the winter (and summer) riding. The work will continue throughout March and we ask that people please refrain from riding the Red Route for 3-4weeks after the work is completed. This gives the new surface a chance to bed in. Riding it too soon could mean the life expectancy of the new surface is reduced from 10 years to 2 years! Those of you who have ridden the first bit of the Tightrope section will know what happens if the trail is ridden too
soon.

Unfortunately there is a limited budget and it was decided to concentrate the money on fixing the Red route first. The Black will be done in the future, maybe in a couple of years when the money is there. Watch this space!

Many thanks.
