Hi,
Is there any chance you could put some sort of "upload indicator" on the File Upload page please? I had a larger file to upload (with overlays) and the screen just sat there. I had no idea if it was uploading or not. Even a blinking box would help.
Just a suggestion. Thanks for a great website!

Hi Qwertz
When I build overlays I don't include the image files in the kmz but use a weblink to the image. This has several advantages: smaller kmz files and images are updated as they are changed (useful for weather overlays and such). If the overlay is not available online I use an image hosting service, like imageshack (http://www.imageshack.us/). There are also other image sharing services, for example flickr (http://www.flickr.com) and hello (http://www.hello.com), but they require registration. Keeping the kmz files small also helps to keep the cost of running this website down.

Hello Stadsman,
Thanks for the tips. I keep learning new things every day! Never even thought of using a hosting service. Guess I could even upload them to a page on my own website and link from there.
Still got a lot to learn,

But doesn't imageshack delete the files when they aren't viewed for a while (30 days?)? Then all the work is gone with the wind. And my experience was that imageshack (as a lot of other free hosts) are pretty unreliable.

Good point, never really checked into that but also never had a problem with them either. But you're right, to ensure that the file remains available for a longer period it is better to use an image sharing service like Hello.com or Flickr.com
