TWENTY EIGHT various LOANS have a birthday today.

Pay-day loans are a CON, yet these are still with us, and still advertising in their profiles!

Another "payday loan" birthday today, and they are STILL with us!

Why have these accounts not been deleted?

These are CONS, they are designed to rip people off, yet they are allowed to stay, what's going on here?

When they turn up on my forum they are instantly deleted, and their IP addresses banned.

It's hard to find these accounts. I only see them crop up when they post messages, whence I delete them. I didn't think about the birthday list. But honestly, the word "loan" should be banned from being in a username. Maybe kidding on the last part, but I'll seriously never understand spammers.

I had the same issue on my forum. Literally had thousands of these buggers.

You need to download the plugin "VbStopForumSpam" from Vbulletin.org. = http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=176481

Set it up to deny IP Addresses and email addresses from the stopforumspam.com database.

Don't deny usernames as it seems to block a lot of genuine members with the name turned on.

This provides access to a RBL type system for forum admins, listing known spam IP / email / usernames. The RBL database is provided by www.stopforumspam.com. You do NOT need an API key from the website in order to access the database. only to submit data if you should wish to do so.

At the point of user registration, the mod checks if the IP number / provided username / email addresses appear on a block list and can block the registration.

Whilst this isnt the most perfect way to stop all forum spam, its another step that spammers have to overcome.

You can also do a mass cull through your Admin panel based on names, IP and email addresses if you want to remove them too.

I don't use VB Andy, I'm with Invision, and we have similar tools.

It's not a problem for me, as my forum is invitation only, and all registration requests are admin approved, before they get to post.

My point here, on this forum, is that they seem to be ignored, they don't post, they use their profiles knowing Google will pick up on it several times, and are allowed to stay, even though the whole "loan" thing is being investigated in several countries.

I've noticed that most of my bogus registration requests come from Russia and Ukraine.
