View Full Version : Geography of the Köppen Climate Classification System teaches both History & Science.

This documentary, in the form of a Google Map (http://myreadingmapped.blogspot.com/2013/04/geography-of-koppen-climate.html), applies geography to the 100+ year old Köppen Climate Classification System (shown below) in order to be able to see the actual geography that affects climate and how the geography is affected by the climate. Then I considered that this map is as much about history and cultures as it is about science because the climate affects the people and migration, and human development and migration affected the climate. So, I was very surprised that no one had ever done this before since seeing the geography of each climate type would greatly improve the understanding of what the system is designed to teach. In a sense this map is a visual glossary of climate classifications.
