There are about 10 Revolutionary War veterans buried there - but they were all reinterred. The cemetery was established during the Civil War on the lands of Robert E. Lee, with the intent of burying the Union dead right up to his front door. See http://www.arlingtoncemetery.org/historical_information/index.html.
