Hey Mickey... i liked the way you give 25 geos to birq in http://www.googleearthhacks.com/forums/showthread.php?p=14874#post14874
i wonder if that could be another way to get geos... we could have a subscription of 1 geos or more and participate in trivia system to get geos.
We could hold diferents topics for example: Geography, Physical, General Culture, Sports, etc.

This is a much better use of GEOS than "A lottery". GE has great potential as an elementary/primary school teaching aid. Why not extend it to trivia?
I Agree, trivia is cool, but its too easy to cheat.. if you use common knowledge people can just google the answer.. if we do do it, we should do it like jeopardy where you have 15 or 20 seconds to answer a question before the next one appears, it would prevent cheating :)

every script trivia has a question and therefore somewhere hidden is an answer - hack central! Easy geos.
We need some outside of the quare thinking to make this work.
Exactly, we dont need/want to encourage more cheating..
Anyone got any lateral ideas?

How about the answer isn't there until Mickey codes it?
You have 20 seconds to answer but don't get your geos for 12-24 hours while your answer is checked?
That would stop the ability to hack the answer anyway but would people be prepared to wait?
I would as it hasn't cost you anything to enter.

What about if the triva required not only an answer but a screen shot from Google Earth that went with the answer??
Example: What's the tallest building in the world??
You'd post your answer along with a screen shot from Google Earth of the worlds tallest building.
Obviously there are limitations to this, since not every place in GE is high res, but if the person runing the trivia based their questions on high res files from the main GE Hacks site, then you could be assured that you could always find a screen shot to go with the answer.
That would get us back to leveraging Google Earth.
I'd even volunteer to run the trivia to start with.

Cryptic questions...something you can't just google for but have to think about it yourself...

Rasqual will hate this idea when he sees it - "too unrealistic; what does it have to do with war?; does George Bush have to answer trivia questions to raise money for troops?" :)
I think it has great potential, if we can figure out how best to do it. Once a plan is in place, we can create a separate forum for it.

George Bush has to get dollars from taxes and resources... but the citizens of US get dollars working, playing lotto and answer trivias ;-) I suggest a link from Las Vegas to any chat session or forum and there, who holds that city, could be the host and post his self topic and with the subscriptor's geos pay to the winners and give a little bonus to city holder.
and excuse my english.

I can't believe that I am saying this as I Hate JEWEL hunting, but link Jewel hunting specific trivia questions. Say 1 out of 25 jewels obtained are linked to a trivia question for that city. The questions shouldn't be too hard----a variety of educational levels should be addressed. This will link this back to GE and provide a carrot/educational for our younger players.
If we limit the "prize" to a 'trivial' amount (excuse the pun) say 10-25 geos who cares about cheating.
Frankly I think you all cheat. Don't worry about it.
Another suggestion is to request trivia questions from the players. This will produce a DB that could be used as above.

And I'll pick up the trivia game when you want me to...
I'm looking forward to it!!
We should get a better idea of how to run it, in relation to geos, though... So I'll keep watching this thread, and start up a new thread with the specific rules of the trivia game in a day or so.
I'm writing trivia questions up already... :)
edit: I realize that this post shouldn't be in the 'Feature Suggestion' sub-forum, but I'll move the trivia game over to the main forum farily soon...
