View Full Version : Calling GE with a .kml parameter

How can I run GE with a kml file as a parameter and have GE zoom in on the kml data?
This needs to happen from VB.
I keep getting 'Fetch failed... Unsupported protocol', while working with a good kml file.
Is there a parameter argument I don't know?

The kml file I'm trying to access is on my own xp-based pc.

Here's the VB call that is failing:

Set gShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")

gShell.Run """C:\Program Files\Google\Google Earth\GoogleEarth.exe"" ""D:/tmp/server/foo2.kml"""

All the double quotes are somehow necessary.

GE comes up but forget about bringing up the .kml file.

Thanks in advance,

It's some dumb thing from the application I was trying to call GE from. It won't work nohow. So I did something completely different.

I'm doing something similar with a hurricane tracker, I simply have a shortcut to the generating program, and a shortcut to the .kml it generates sitting in a folder on my desktop.. I launch GE by running the .kml :) I know its not a fix, but its an alterative..
