Good stuff, well done.
Unfortunately in this technological age some of us don't take notice of the simple written word we only notice stuff if there's some immediate gratification attached to it, hence flash animations etc etc.
This little ditty scratches that itch and hopefully we learn something.

How come it doesn't work on I.E.? All other flash content seems to work OK but yours doesn't. :whoa: :spin:

Hi everyone. Just joined. I'm a bit confused because apparently I don't have the right to post new threads. Is this the same for everyone when they're newbies, then?

Yes, due to many many spam posts we were forced to change the setup. You need 2 posts to be a 'normal' user. Sorry for any inconvenience..

No inconvenience... here's my second post!

I'm not quite sure that I actually HAVE a new thread to post... but I'm sure I'll dream something up eventually!!

Captain,

Your intentions are good and necessary also regarding a minimum of two posts.

But as happened here even the new spamsters will post two successive posts. ( Jolanta and S^3 .. I don't mean you ) [ I am also s^3 ].

Welcome both of you to GEH.

But it is true that at least a few will get deterred if their first post does not appear. Let's hope for the good.

Have you seen any spammers yet? ;)

For a small duration, yes, some content spamsters were seen .. till removed by the alert Mods. ( e.g. advertising the famous 'energy' drug etc. )

Don't know of software hackers.

AFAIK there hasn't been any spammer sighted since the changes...

The two posts prior to this are strange, apart from almost identical posts, they have different names, yet both profiles have the comment, "honest person", both give addresses, one of them a shop, and both give web sites, one for pillows, the other for batteries.

The spamming on forums is often done in the profile, one recent member here has posted a huge spruke for an insurance company on hundreds of forums, he never posts, just adds the blurb to his profile.

I've just done a quick Google of these two, and both are on hundreds of forums, yet never take part, the idea seems to be to get the link to these commercial sites online, thereby helping their Google score, in this case one for pillows, the other for batteries.

You're right BillyBob. They are now banned.

Non of us mods have obviously seen them.

Thanks for you help.

The two posts prior to this are strange, Believe it or not BillyBob, there are 34 posts below this that aren't visible to non-mods. It is a constant never-ending problem fighting the spam-bots on a forum. I never thought to look at the profile to see if a new member is a stealth spammer. I'll add that to my repertoire as I see new members.
