Perhaps this is so easy that I'm overlooking it, but is it possible to make GE look like Google Maps, i.e. no satelite imagery, just roads? I'm trying to plot multiple points and print out maps, and all the background imagery doesn't print out well.

Nope, sorry.. you'll need Microsoft Map point for something like that, or just print from google maps.

Actually, now i think of it.. you could use www.maporama.com (or google maps, for that matter) and make overlays of the roadmaps off there.. but thats a lot of work

yep you can, here you go....

1. Get a global weather overlay.
Link: http://www.googleearthhacks.com/dlfile8854/World-weather.htm
2. once you see the weather (cool isnt it?) click on it in the Places window
3. Below it, you will see a bar that you can drag with a marker in it that you can drag around, this controls the transparency of the overlay.
4. Drag it all the way to the right, this way you cannot see any of the satillite imaging. If you zoom in enough, pretty much the amount you would want to be zoomed in for to see roads, then you can only see the roads. It works really well.

tip: find where you want to be zoomed in (and zoom in), then make the weather overlay not transparent. Or, my favorite, just make it slightly transparent so you can still see the satillite images but they are not the main focus of the image.
