Got its name from Lieutenant Ralph Clarke, who sailed from England in May 1787 to establish the first European colony in New South Wales, and maintained a vegetable garden on the island. Sorry, this is'nt Clarke Island but the awful prison of Fort Denisson better known as "Pinchgut island". The beautiful Clacke Island is 1.6km South West outside Rushcutter Bay.
