While searching for a friends home town I came across this strange area in Eastern California. Anyone have any idea what on earth it is?

good find ;)
I don't haev a clue what it is: It looks like some form of giant honeycomb... But it could well be a farm with a giant crop in it: Possibly cotton as a lake is nearby.

Could it be some sort of solar farm? I dont see a collecting tower but they could all be solar panels.

Looks like a farm for apples, cherries or oranges maybe!

It must be a crop of some sort but the total lack of green has me beat. There are plenty more areas just like it to the South.

Here's two possibilities. There are a lot of nuts grown in that region of California so could they be nut trees. Another thought was that they may be vineyards. What do you think?

Dafenitely no vineyards as they would have very straight lines in a geometric pattern.defenitely some sort of bushes. I tip of some kind of fruit trees!

It must be some kind of orchard. I prefer walnuts, almonds and prunes.

Here you can see a photo from a house in the Woodward Lake Dr, south of the placemark. In the rear you can see the the kind of orchard in this area.
