Has anyone had any success in making short movies (MPG, AVI, or whatever) from GE sessions please? Whether automatic 'Fly By' exercises, or manual navigation. Presumably it's a matter of using a program to capture the streaming images, and maybe another one to edit them later?

Hi Terry!
Try using a program called Snag It! it can capture video of whatever you are doing on your desktop :)

Here's one i did using VidShot Capturer.
It creates a Divx AVI, but although if changed frame rate to 25 pic/sec the result is "bumpy".
It shows a flight around Volcano Etna in Sicili.
8 MB!

Here's another one using Camtasia this time.
But no matter what frame rate i choose, the result is bumpy!

Thanks both.
I do have latest Snagit, which I use frequently for staic captures, but hadn't realised it could capture video too! Will give it a try. Also about to try FRAPS.
Martin: Neat - a lot smoother than my first effort, anyway. Would they be less jerky if you moved more slowly in GE perhaps?

Anyone tried fraps?
I use it from time to time. I haven't purchased the full version, but the free one works quite well. I'll probably buy the full one soon.

Thanks for your interest in Google Video.
Currently, the playback feature of Google Video isn't available in your country.
We hope to make this feature available more widely in the future, and we really appreciate your patience.

well, there seems to be some workaround (http://labnol.blogspot.com/2006/01/download-watch-google-videos-in-any.html)
hope it helps :-)

Interesting. I'd use fewer sample points for a smoother effect.
On the news the other night I swear they used GE to show the route of a car chase - placemark pin icons and everything.

hi dear Forum:
i am very happy been able to share with you a video of a bike road tour across the Espinazo del Diablo (Devil's backbone) in the road Durango - Mazatlán, Mexico
It is a 200 miles one-day bike ride trough one of the most inaccesible sierra landscapes in the mexican state of Durango, travelling to the Pacific port of Mazatlan (just at the other side of the sea of Los Cabos)
this video shows the GPS track of the route followed last year, over Google Earth Plus. The following bike tour will be held on september 16, 2006, and you are all invited ! :-)
you can find this video in the videos box of the Albatros (http://mx.groups.yahoo.com/group/Albatros_01/) forum (first image in the video box, left of the forum description), or in the following location (http://www.dailymotion.com/albatros/video/50087)
we hope you could enjoy this GE+ video :-)

Hi dear Forum:
In the forum Albatros (http://mx.groups.yahoo.com/group/Albatros_01/) we are happy to be able to share with you some videos (in high (http://albatros.filefront.com/) and low (http://www.dailymotion.com/albatros/1) quality), and 3D + 2D satellital maps (http://www.flickr.com/photos/albatros/sets/) (+ altimetries + photos) of some bike tours in Mexico.
The videos and satellital maps are GPS (Garmin 60 CSx) trackings over the topographical tridimensional animation rendered by Google Earth Plus. The shown altimetries were also obtained using the tracking data of this GPSr.
Please feel free to watch these videos and images, or if you would prefer, you could also join the Albatros (http://mx.groups.yahoo.com/group/Albatros_01/) forum
Any comment will be highly appreciated
Thank you
Greetings
