I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, more spacificly in the East Bay. I remember that when I was a kid there was some sort of large structure located in the hills above the City of San Leandro. It was a large geodesic dome that looked like a big golf ball and probably housed a large radar antenna. My question is, is there anybody out there on the BBS from this area who also remembers this structure and can placemark where it sat and what is was for? I had moved from the area in the early 70's and when I came back it was gone. I'm not positive but I seem to remember it overlooked the area around 150th Ave. If anybody can help I'd really appreciate it.

I found what looks like the largest water tanks I have ever seen. I measured them at 130 ft. I also noticed that the whole area is behind security fencing and a admin area to the northeast of the northern most "tank".

The tanks you placemarked, I believe are covered reseviors. We have alot of them in the Bay Area, though normally in areas that are more populated so's not to pose a drowning hazard. If you look at the north tank, the road that runs south from it ends at the local animal shelter, so it might be part of thier operation. The whole area where the tanks are is part of Anthony Chabot Regional Park.
