do you know where does the altitude data of the terrain layer in Google Earth comes from ?

how does Google Earth acquire this data ? satellite radar altimetry ? USGS topo maps ?

which is the equidistance between level curves of the topo maps ?

how accurate is this altitude data ?

My guess is that they're using USGS data for the US, SRTM data worldwide.
