I'd seen another of those a few miles away. At first I thought it was a car fire! But the blob is a very similar shape to the one originally posted.
Interestingly, or not, this one is in the car park of the old Met Office, now demolished.

Usually these are caused by something (metal or glass, etc) reflecting sunlight directly into the camera taking the picture, which overloads the sensor. The second one has an obvious source, the car windshield is at just the right angle to reflect the sun. The one in the woods isn't as obvious, there's nothing that seems to be reflective there.

There are various similar shaped "blobs" all over GE.... I guess it has something to do with the sunlight and the angle of the satellite at that exact moment.
A perfect example is Chicago, where some of the buildings seem to "lean" towards each other just where two shots are merged.
If sunlight reflects off of something, it will leave a trace, at least showing you the direction of the satellite as it passed over. Look how they start with a large area and then taper off.
