Once i tried to submit it to the database with the name "Visible Radar".
Joke wasn't understand and therefore it was denied.

I had dismissed the line as an obvious artefact; it couldn't be an airstrip since it crosses open bodies of water. And that bit of the Arctic is supposedly uninhabited. Then I checked my Atlas. It's called Air Force Island.
Raising a question or two. :whoa:

It's a route for trucks.
I know, "but it goes over water", in the winter, 1 month out of the year, trucks go over the ice wasteland to bring the years supplies to the people living there, saw it on the History Channel, it's pretty cool ;)

The Arctic ice roads aren't arrow-straight. They are not that wide. And they don't run this far from civilization. Plus I've since seen very similar bands, of similar width but in a variety of colours, elsewhere on Google Earth. So I've changed my mind: it's just an artefact.

I did a google on 'landsat image atrefacts' and found that someone has reported another example in Kyrgyzstan, which has red and blue lines too:

So, it looks as though it is just an artefact after all....

try this it is a satalite image Shows no line. sorry about the length of the reply. Click the island a couple of times and then on the right side pane select Satalite image.
