It is the world's largest monolith rising 318m above the desert floor with a circumference of 8 km. It is considered once of the great wonders of the world.

Ayers Rock or 'Uluru' as the aboriginals call it (it is no longer PC to call it Ayers Rock) in 3D. 14 miles (23 kilometres) to the ENE also lie 'The Olgas' (or Kata Tjuta) Nearly twice as tall but not being one 'soild' moniloith so to speak. Both are actually the same coloured red but have been taken by different sweep of the satelite and so Kata Tjuta seems Greenish. I'm from Australia, it's a magic place really.

Actually, Mt Augustus is currently recognized as the world's largest monolith:
